The United States and Jordan have unveiled a new trade agreement designed to enhance economic collaboration, diminish trade barriers, and foster new business opportunities in both nations. This deal ensures that Jordan will maintain duty-free access for the majority of American goods entering its market. Additionally, both countries will collaborate to eliminate logistical and trade obstacles to bolster the flow of commerce.

US Trade Representative Jamieson Greer emphasized that the agreement aligns with President Donald Trump’s initiative to deepen economic and strategic ties in the Middle East while opening new markets for American exporters. Meanwhile, Jordan’s Minister of Industry, Trade and Supply, Yarub Qudah, remarked that Jordanian exports to the United States will face a 10 percent tariff, whereas US exports to Jordan will continue to be exempt under the current free-trade agreement. He further noted that the agreement is anticipated to enhance investments between the two nations.

In 2001, the US and Jordan signed a free-trade agreement, marking Jordan as the first Arab country to establish such a pact with Washington. By 2010, all duties under this agreement had been abolished. This longstanding relationship now sees a new chapter with the recent agreement, reflecting a continued commitment to mutual economic growth.

Trade statistics indicate that in 2025, the total trade between the United States and Jordan amounted to $5.34 billion. Jordan’s primary exports include chemicals, garments, mineral products, and precious stones. Its key import partners are China, Saudi Arabia, the United States, and the United Arab Emirates, showcasing its diverse trade connections.
