Uzbekistan Airways is set to expand its long-haul fleet, committing to eight additional Boeing 787 Dreamliners. This purchase is part of a larger, 37-plane regional deal announced by the Trump administration, which also includes major orders from Kazakhstan and Tajikistan.
The new 787s represent a significant investment in modernization for Uzbekistan’s flag carrier, allowing it to expand its global reach with one of the industry’s most efficient long-haul aircraft.
The agreement was unveiled by the U.S. Commerce Department as a major diplomatic and commercial victory. The announcement was strategically made at the C5+1 Summit in Washington, a 10th-anniversary meeting of U.S. and Central Asian leaders, to highlight the link between diplomacy and U.S. business.
The other components of the deal include 15 787-9 Dreamliners for Kazakhstan’s Air Astana and a 14-plane mixed fleet (787s and 737 MAXs) for Tajikistan’s Somon Air. For Air Astana, the deal is particularly transformative, enabling it to launch its first-ever flights to North America.
This 37-plane order fits a well-established pattern under President Trump, where new U.S.-made Boeing planes feature prominently in trade deals. It adds to a strong year for Boeing, as the industry also watches ongoing talks with China for a potential 500-jet sale.
